When Kaala feels a mysterious force drawing her to the humans, especially when a young girl is drowning in the water. Wolves are not to let half-bloods live, not allowed to attack humans in the area, and cannot interfere with the humans. The wolves of the Valley have three rules, and all are about to be broken. Making friends with two other pups from Ruuqo's and Rissa's (his mate) litter, Ãzzuen and Marra. She's now without any family with her mother banished and her siblings dead. Just before the pack leader, Ruuqo is about to end her, the feared Greatwolves urge she be spared because of the moon shaped patch of fur on her chest, which they think is signifigant. Kaala wasn't really supposed to live, since she's a half-blood. Promise of the Wolves is a book that fans of Watership Down or the Warriors series would enjoy, because its told from the perspective of a wolf.
